After the Battle of New Macross destroyed the SDF-1 and much of the city, the United Earth Government and the rest of the population migrated to Monument City. Security of the city was placed under the control of the Global Military Police and the Army of the Southern Cross, headed by Supreme Commander Anatole Leonard.
The city was eventually destroyed by a Tirolian Mothership sent by the Robotech Masters during the Second Robotech War.
Monument City became the new capital of the United Earth Forces after the Battle of New Macross.
