Okay….
First off, there were the original DVDs. 12 disks that covered just the series as seen on TV.
About the same time, the Legacy Box sets were also released These included the DVDs with bonus materials (such as: the original Macross dub, extended version of ‘Gloval’s Report, etc).
Later, the Protoculture Collection was released. This was the Original series DVDs, and the bonus DVDs put together in one thin-pack box-set.
Next came the Remastered DVDs. These DVDs featured New opening animations (derived from the original Japanese series openings), improved picture quality, additional footage that had been cut for US broadcast standards, and reworked sound effects (that many fans hated).
Finally, there is the A&E box-set, This contains the remastered series, and the bonus features from the Legacy box-sets.
Funimation released the Shadow Chronicles movie on DVD, followed by a Collectors Edition that featured additional bonus content
Lion’s Gate released the Robotech: Long Live Alive OVA DVD, bundled with the Shadow Chronicles movie.
I hope that this answers your question.
