We received our panel acceptance notice for Otakon today.  We’ll be presenting Macross/Robotech: Mythology & Physics in Baltimore this August.  Part of the presentation will include a live Minmei & Yellow Dancer duet.

Getting things tuned up for our Otakon panel.  Yellow & Minmei are rehearsing tonight.  The band should have the final music track done next week.

Still don’t know if we’ll have 60 minutes or 90 minutes.  Either way the presentation is ready for modular transformation.

If you cosplay any Robotech or Macross characters, stick around after the panel for a group photo.

Let me know if anyone can do a Capt. Gloval for Otakon.

It looks like our Macross/Robotech Otakon panel is slotted for 3PM on Friday the 9th.

We’ll do a group photo shoot with Macross/Robotech cosplayers following the panel around 4:15 PM.

Great!

Kevin is doing a Robotech Industry panel today at 12:30 in panel room 5.

Our Macross/Robotech panel is at 3PM in panel room 1.  We have 60 minutes.  Look for Max & Miriya.  We have a lot of stuff to go over from ancient mythology to contemporary, from Quantum Physics to M-Theory.

Our panel’s closing act will be a music tribute with Minmei & Yellow Dancer cosplayers singing a new version of We Will Win.  They will be joined by Sheryl & Ranka (Macross Frontier) and sing part of Lion (by Yoko Kanno).  Finally Basara (Macross 7) will join the crowd and finish out with part of Power To The Dream.

Following our panel, we are doing a Macross/Robotech cosplay group photo shoot around 4:15 on the outdoor terrace near panel room 1.

We had a larger crowd this year than last year.

After the intro video, we recreated part of the Max/Miriya meeting in the park to introduce our characters.  Miriya ran down the isle from the back to the front wielding her knife.

We had a lot of video clips and stills as we went through the mythology & science.  Approving nods from the attending physicists and good feedback from others as we were leaving.  I took it as a good sign that nearly the entire crowd hung around for the whole hour.

There were a few other Macross cosplayers doing Frontier characters (Ozma, Michael, Sheryl & Ranka).

Kevin McKeever was able to drop in on our panel too and we invited him up after our singers did their parts.

We had a band pre-record a high energy track that our Minmei & Yellow sang too for We Win Will.  Their version included the “3rd verse”.  Each song was backed from video from the series.  For We Will Win, I composited a lot of shots for Minmei & Yellow together, a “lost” concert video.

We had a bunch extra material that we didn’t include due to the 60 minute time limit.  We’ll save it for the next one.
