Loved having the Robotech experience at my local con, Nan Desu Kan (NDK), this year. It was nice meeting both Tommy and Steve. BTW, I met you (Kevin) at MechaCon back in 2005 when we got to see “TSC”.
I will make sure to put a bug in the NDK’ers ears, for sure.
Hello. Keep an eye out for an email message from the Zenkaikon con chair. Our attendance more than doubled this year (~570 in 2007 to over 1300 in 2008). For 2009 Zenkaikon will be at the Valley Forge Radisson in PA(directly next door to last year’s location the Scanticon) Nov. 7 & 8. We might be too late to try to book something for 2009 (dates are probably filling fast) but there is always 2010. We’ll be in touch. ^_^ http://www.zenkaikon.com
A larger presence at Anime Expo would be great. It was very disappointing this past year that there was no Robotech in the Exhibition Hall. In years past when someone asked me where to get an SDF-1 hat like mine I could say, “At the Robotech booth!”
We’ve heard the stories about vendors not being pleased with the new Donwtown L.A. location, but attendance in 2008 was still high. It was also very sad to see/hear many of the major companies saving their big announcements and news for Comic-Con instead of unveiling at Anime Expo, where the true fans are.
For all us Aussies, dates are pretty much locked in at Saturday 16th of May and following Sunday the 17th May 2009.
Sci-Fi Extreme is going to piggy back the Macross Aus Con 09 on the Sunday, with hopefully some really cool surprises, that’s all i can divulge at this point in time, will hopefully gain official details of Sunday’s happenings in the coming week.
But as for the Macross Australian Convention 2009 or MAC AUS CON 09’, that’s rock solid. People can e-mail me (check profile here or at MacrossWorld.com see link) for details.
Hi Kevin, you personally are listed as a guest at A-kon 20 in Dallas next year, but I don’t see any mention of the Robotech Tour. Is the tour not coming or is the way they put it just misleading? Thanks.
this is good news! Be sure to keep us posted on it’s happenings. Whether it’s SUpernova or Sci-Fi Extreme it’s all win win for us fans i’m sure you and everyone else will agree.
Conventions are labor intensive and they also require you (the organizers) putting up capital (money) to cover costs of bringing the tour down to your event. So it’s always important to do your homework and make sure you are fully ready to take on the organizational and financial responsibilities before you contact us.
I know , and this is exactly what I’ve been telling the guys but they seem so excited they think we can make it , but this will take more time (and money!) than we think so, maybe we’ll be ready for 2010. The place could be Buenos Aires, and we were planning to bring the RT Convention to an Anime Expo organized together with other people that do it every year so,it would be easy for us to stick to that than plan an entire convention on our own.
Anyway, if there’s any info you could send me of what we will need for sure and the aproximated costs , it would be really helpful.
I’ll mail you when I talk to the guys.
Thanks a lot!
I think we might have to create a fan fic and hang around for a couple of years and gain the uber “contributor” status before he might talk to us…. j/k!!! Sorry Neo couldn’t resist you sound like a nice guy even though a bit snobbish.
The Robotech Convention Tour only goes to places it is invited to attend. What you should do is contact your local convention in Boston and let them know you want to see the tour at thier show.
For those of us that do not live close to con sites (Bosie, Denver, Seatlle and North Dakota would be the closest to me) would you ever conider doing a web cast of your pannels so some of us that cant travel all that much (single dad of 4 here) can watch? If you have to charge a few bucks, but this way all fans can be updated if they so wish to watch.
Dont leave us unfortunate out if you dont have to… PLEASE!!!
