I heard a rumor, unconfirmed.

The role of Captain Gloval is now cast by Christopher Eccleston. Any confirmation on this would be appreciated?

You people realize that the people who would have been ideal for the parts are now a lot older than they were when this thing was first announced?  The principal actors should be, at most, in their mid-20s.

That means Helen Hunt, Tobey Maguire, Donald Sutherland or any of the others names I’ve heard bandied about for the past decade (or more) are probably no longer viable.

Yep.

Like the Battlestar Galactica comeback that took decades, this one is taking forever too!

Let’s just hope whoever they select for the players can pull it off.

It’s still in ‘Development Hell’. Not much new except that now a director is seemingly attached.

But with the ‘revolving door’ of writhes and producers over the past 10+ years, take it as you will.

Personally, I think that the whole LAM project is really nothing more then a ‘Red Herring’.

Ideas anyone? Dream teams?

My ideas:

Henry Gloval- Fatherly type, warm but serious Hiroyuki Sanada (Sunshine), Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge), Peter Stormare (Big Lebowski)

Lisa Hayes- Super serious with vulnerability Eva Green (Casino Royale), Evan Rachel Wood (Upside of Anger), Rose Byrne (Troy)

Lynn Minmei- Naive, stubborn, and talented  Melissa Reyes (The Search for the Next Doll Ome tv)

Maximillian Sterling- <Badass yet dorky Sung Kang (Tokyo Drift), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)

Rick Hunter- Young, wide-eyed, but confident Aaron Yoo (Disturbia), Nicholas Tse (Time and Tide), Leonardo Nam (Perfect Score), Daniel Radcliffe!?

Roy Fokker- Cocky and charming Chris Evans (Sunshine) Bazoocam

Claudia Grant- Calm and smooth Zoe Saldana (The Terminal), Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys II)

Khyron- Shady as all hellCillian Murphy (Sunshine)

Wow, buddy
Your Idea is great and you explained it like a pro.
I really impressed with this discussion.
This type of wonder share I have ever seen before.

My suggestions for cast smile.  Looked at age appropriate talent.

Rick Hunter – Tom Holland.  Young, goofy, naïve, yet can get serious

Lisa Hayes – Alicia Vikander.  Older than Tom Holland, but can still see as a love interest.  Tomb Raider showed she can be tough character too.

Lynn Minmei- Rose (from Blackpink).  Speaks perfect English with Australian accent and already fits the role as a Kpop singer.  The Minmei character is Chinese, so must be Asian actress to avoid white washing controversies.

Max Sterling – Timothee Chalamet – Rising young actor.  Has slightly nerdy look but can be very sexy too.

Miriya Parina - Mila Kunis or Eiza Gonzalez – Got the sharp look that can be softened by love.

Roy Fokker – Matthew McConaughey - tall, built, humorous.  McConaughey might be too old but his image fits the character very well.

Claudia Grant – Nathalie Emmanuel - tall, beautiful, older

Henry Gloval - Liam Neeson - tall, broad shoulders, has the protective but assertive father figure thing going on.

Ben Dixon – Jonah Hill – comic relief and can be serious too.

Lynn Kyle – Ludi Lin – From Power Rangers.  Has the Asian actor look and can look smug.

Khyron - Tom Hiddleston

Azonia - Carla Gugino - older, beautiful, can definitely pull off a mature and slightly evil role

Breetai – Joel Kinnaman – Tall, built.  Has played bad guy roles and good guy roles.

Exedore - Danny Pudi

Dolza – Dean Norris (Breaking Bad)

I think this looks good!

Sheesh…..

Here we go again….

Seriously?

You couldn’t come up with something more relevant then a ‘dream cast’ list?

There hasn’t been anything new about this project, since a director was announced. And that was years ago.

There is still no information about it moving into production, what the storyline is going to be, and what era it’s going to be set in (the Macross Saga timeline is outdated now).

If it is in the Macross Saga, as was widely believed yeas ago, then it will need to be set to begin somewhere around 2039 AD.

Oh, sorry for posting about my dream cast in this forum about cast speculation.  It’s my first post and I must not know the rules of this forum.  grin.  I will be careful what I post so that I don’t feel unwelcome in a community of Robotech fans.

I agree with your annoyed tone that this live action film has been in production hell…. If it gets made, it better be f**king great. grin

Sorry for coming off that way.

I’m just ambivalent about this project.

Either for it to go into production or be canceled.
