Could the “evil” minds at H.G. and RT.COM be planning a release date of the new series to coinside with the rumored ROBOCON 20?

Let’s think about it for a moment.
Next year is the 20th anniversary of Robotech.
We had a 10th year anniversary back in 1995 which was celebrated as ROBOCON 10.

How awsome would it be if there were plans for a ROBOCON 20 and they use this event to premier the new series which is also rumored to be finished early next year.

How about some info Tom.
Any thoughts people?

I voiced the same thing to him at the Anime Expo and again on the forums, but he only said something like:  yes next year would be the twentieth anniversary and yes, it would be ten years after Robocon 10.

Do you have something new to say Tom?  How about some new Convention dates/appearances info?

Wow, Robotech is 20 next year!!! Where and when next year is ROBOCON20 gonna be held at? I plan on attending Celebration III for Episode III in Indianapolis in late April. They expect twice to 3 times amount of people they had for Celebration II (26,000 people went to Celebration II). Are they expecting a lot people for ROBOCON20? I went to the first ROBOCON in San Francisco in 87 I think it was. They were promoting the Robotech Movie and Sentinals series then.

Reading this thread tells me one thing:  Robotech is definately “The little franchise that could.”

Even before this whole 80’s nostolgia craze that started a couple of years ago, Robotech found some way to live on in one form or another.

The comics lasted longer than any other 80’s series, it was the only one that had ALL the episodes on tape, in some form or another.  Even though there were times when dealers at comic conventions would scoff every time I asked if they had Robotech stuff, and even though, for a while,  the Robotech staff at HG consisted of only one lawyer who collected checks, Robotech refused to die.

I really hope that there is a Robocon 20. If not for anything else, just to show how strong Robotech is still going.

I was at the very first one in San Francisco, It was great, there was gal there who showed up in a GMP uniform and looked just like one of the characters from Southern Cross (the gal that was head of the GMP and was always after Dana and Zor, see, the memory slips me). There was a preview of the Robotech movie, which I have yet to see. The guy who brought the three, totally seperate, Japanese series over and linked them into Robtech was there and he signed a book I had that had all the episodes in it. I forget his name also. All the dealers, I won a poster for the Movie for knowing trivia. Yeah, that was my first convention. I don’t think it was called ROBOCON then.

I think this is an useful blog post and also it is well-informed and really useful tunnel rush. For that reason, I want to thank you for the ventures that you have actually made in writing this post.
